When the operating state of the engine belongs to the post-stage resonance region, including a damper, misfire is judged by resonance region misfire detection processing different from the normal time misfire detection processing (S130). Consequently, misfire can be judged more exactly and precisely both when the operating stale of the engine belongs to and does not belong to the post-stage resonance region.
