The present invention refers to a process for the manufacture of a plastic reinforced with carbon-nitrogen cylindrical-shaped submicronic particles and spherical-shaped SiOx particles, which is the only process available in the market for producing packages, containers, bottles and the like products that is capable of acting as a double barrier against oxygen and further gases such as carbon dioxide amongst others. The plastic material shows an excellent distribution of submicronic particles within the polymer, said particles being selected from a diverse copolymer group, or from high density polymers such as: high density polyethylene (HDPE), polyethylene naphthalate (PET), polypropylene (PP), polylactide (PLA), copolyesters and Nylon 6. Said homogeneous distribution causes the particles to act as a barrier and absorb and/or adsorb gases, also increasing the mechanical properties thereof. The aforementioned characteristics generate containers more resistant which are able to trap div erse gas molecules such as carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2) and oxygen (O2), water (H2O) molecules, etc. The cylindrical-shaped carbon-nitrogen submicronic materials are manufactured by a hydrocarbon thermal deposition process, in the presence of a transition metal selected from a group comprising Fe, Co or Ni. The SiOx particles are manufacture out by the additional deposition of tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS). The novel plastics commonly known as master batch are manufactured out by a process wherein the diverse polymers along with the submicronic particles are extruded and mixed together using high shearing forces during the extrusion of the compound plastic at a temperature of from about 200°C, at a counter pressure of from about 700 psi, the master batch being subsequently mixed together with the copolymer at concentrations equivalent to 0.004% to 3.00% by weight of submicronic particles in the aforementioned polymers.
