METHOD FOR ASSESSING RELAXATION OF MUSCULAR-APONEUROTIC LAYER OF ANTERIOR ABDOMINAL WALL

A method for assessing the relaxation of the muscular-aponeurotic layer of the anterior abdominal wall comprises the measurement of the circumference of the abdomen. The skin and the subcutaneous layers are incised, the flap is lifted, the liposuction is performed, and the circumference of the abdomen is measured between the anterior-superior spines of the ilia. In addition, the distance from xiphoid process to the symphysis pubis over the surface of the aponeurosis prior to and after carboperitoneum is measured while the intraperitoneal pressure is maintained at the level equaling the pressure in the urinary bladder in the standing position of the patient. The relaxation of the muscular-aponeurotic layer of the anterior abdominal wall is assessed by the difference between the values measured clarifying which areas of the muscular-aponeurotic layer are responsible for the outpouching of the abdomen. The width of the dublicature is chosen according to the abovementioned difference. Upon the generation of the dublicature, the shape of the abdomen and the intraperitoneal pressure are assessed.
