A method for diagnosing the osteopenic syndrome in children with the juvenile rheumatoid arthritis inhabiting the regions with the increased fluorine content in water comprises the analysis of the bone tissue metabolism and the assessment of osteocalcin as the major biochemical marker of the bone metabolism, especially in the setting of the chronic fluorine intoxication for the early diagnosis of osteoporosis and the monitoring of antiosteoposis therapy.
