A method for assessing the swallowing function in the neurogenous dysphagia in the acute period of the cerebral stroke comprises the measurement of the rate of pharyngeal transit after swallowing 150 mL of cold water. The scale for the assessment of the swallowing function accounting for seven clinical features of the neurogenous dysphagia in the acute period of the cerebral stroke is also used. Depending on the sum of the scored points, the function of the swallowing is categorized as normal or impaired with slight, moderate, or severe impairment grade.
