A method of the radiodiagnostics of the ankle joint injuries provides for the examination of the supine patients with the shank flexed at the angle of 90°-100° and the foot extended at the angle of 20°. The arthrosonography is performed with the probe located transversely in the lower third of the shank in the lateral surface followed by the distal displacement of the probe along the axis of the leg. The presence of the echosonically detectable gap between tibia and fibula contours with the non-homogeneous structure exceeding 4 mm is a diagnostic sign suggestive of the rupture of the distal tibiofibular syndesmosis.
