The invention relates to the mining industry. A method of measurement of actual protective tachogram of the overspeed governor of mine hoist provides for determination of the voltage of actuation of the relay of speed control, measurement of the diagram of voltage change of voltage generator and voltage on the coil of the relay of speed control during motion of lift vessels in the section of retarding control. With respect to these parameters the protective tachogram of overspeed governor is determined by means of computer and graphic construction. A device for realization of method contains a multi-input digital reading unit, one input is connected to voltage generator - sensor of actual speed, the second input - to the coil of the relay of speed control, and the third one - to contact of the relay of speed control. The technical result is in simplification of the measurement of tachogram by exclusion from the diagram of additional external power source with compulsorily matched parameters with the diagram of said overspeed governor.
