The Invention relates to sulopenem prodrugs of formula (i), wherein R1 is alkyl C2 C8, or a hydrate or solvate thereof. The Invention also relates to the preparation and use of prodrugs of sulopenem to treat a disorder such as an infection in a patient in need thereof.
