Tablet (A), comprises compressed indapamide (I) and excipients (controlling the prolonged release of (I) and comprising a mixture of at least two absorbent cellulose polymers (II) of different viscosities (high or average viscosity polymers (IIa) (about 20-50 wt. %) and low viscosity polymers (IIb) (about 0.5-10 wt. %)) in the absence of polyvidone polymer), where (A) is used in the treatment of arterial hypertension. An independent claim is also included for the preparation of (A). ACTIVITY : Hypotensive. No biological data present. MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.
