A collapsible seating device comprising a fitting (4) disposed on a wall, a first seating surface (3) and a back rest (5). On storage of the seating device, both the first seating surface (3) and the back rest (5) are disposed substantially vertically along the wall. On use of the seating device, the first seating surface (3) is disposed in a horizontal position, the back rest (5) remaining in its position substantially vertically along the wall. On increase of the seating space, the back rest (5) is disposed horizontally along the first seating surface (3), an increased seating space being realised. An upper portion of the back rest (5), in its horizontal position, rests against supports disposed on an opposing wall. A shower or bathing cabinet comprising two opposing walls (2, 11), a first seating surface (3) and a back rest (5) which are raisable and lowerable. In that case when the first seating surface (3) is lowered to a seating position, the back rest (5) is lowerable to form a second seating surface. The second seating surface (5) constitutes an enlargement of the first.
