The bearing arrangement can accommodate an axial load in a bearing housing for location of an axle in at least a first spherical axial roller bearing, which is radially fixed in the bearing housing and which works in conjunction with a second spherical axial roller bearing. This second bearing has an outer ring in contact with a plate associated with the bearing housing and an inner ring suitable for receiving the axle. The sphere centers for the first and second spherical axial roller bearings are displaced from each other along the center line for the shaft. The plate in positions which coincide with side surfaces on the ring-shaped outer ring on the second spherical axial roller bearing has compensating components located bewteen the plate and the outer ring. The compensating components are pliable, being supported by a hydraulic force, which acts to tension the compensating components against the outer ring. This ensures that the roller bearing arrangement is at all times held axially force-controlled and essentially torque-free, and that henceforth the bearing arrangement is maintained free from static torque forces, also when the axle is downwardly inclined.
