A laser cutting device (100) has a laser cutting head (14) with a laser beam focussing optic (30) which restricts the focussing angle of the laser cutting beam (31) to 10 +- 1[deg]. The beam outlet orifice (24) of the beam outlet nozzle (140) has a diameter of between 4 and 16 mm, preferably between 5 and 12 mm. The cutting device moves above the laminate web (19) being cut at a distance (C ) corresponding to 5 to 6.5 times the diameter of the beam outlet orifice. The laminate web being cut is preferably formed from resin-coated or fibre-impregnated paper. The laser cutting head can be moved along the guide web inside a modular housing (190) which has a wedged tapering zone (195) with slit opening (191) for the laminate web (19).Elastomer sealing lips (193) are formed at the edges of the slit opening.
