The invention relates to a device for verifying the cleaning and disinfection result of diagnostic and/or surgical instruments which are especially cleaned in automatic washers and which comprise housing- or cannula-shaped components. The device (6) is characterized by substantially being a dummy of the diagnostic and/or surgical instrument and by having at least one receptacle for arranging a test element (14) including test soil (15) in or on a test specimen (8) that corresponds to the housing-shaped component of the instrument or arranged inside a test tube (7) which corresponds to the cannula-shaped component, the housing-shaped test specimen (8) and the test tube (7) being detachably interconnectible by means of a connecting device (10).
