A process for the preparation of an immunogenic factor of a pathogenic bacterium comprising the steps of: a) culture of Haemuphilus influenzae in a medium comprising at least 20% by dry weight of a proteinaceous material of non-animal origin, and which does not it comprises proteinaceous material of animal origin, in which the proteinaceous material of non-animal origin is a protein composition derived from soybeans; and b) optionally, the purification of the immunogenic factor from the medium.
