A compound with human P-selectin affinity, which is a derivative of a peptide represented by the sequence X (Ax) mA3A1A2A1Y, wherein: - A1 is a D- or L-cysteine (C) or a D- or L- valine (V); - A 2 is a D- or L-aspartic acid (D); - A3 is a D- or L-phenylalanine (F) or a D-tryptophan (W); - A x is a D- or L-amino acid selected from the group consisting of glutamic acid (E), aspartic acid (D), glycine (G) and cysteine (C); - X marks the N-terminal side of said sequence and is hydrogen or a residue comprising from 1 to 6 D- or L-amino acids or analogs thereof; - Y marks the C-terminal side of said sequence and is -OH or a residue comprising 1 to 11 D- or L-amino acids or analogs thereof; where X and Y together can form a cyclic system; characterized in that at least one of X and Y or X + Y are substituted with the group: - R 1 - (Z) n- where: - Z is -CO- and where - R 1 is chosen from: - a group (C 2 -C 8) alkyl wherein at least one C atom is replaced by a nitrogen atom; - an aryl group (C6-C14) which may be substituted with at least one group selected from -OH or -COOH; and where m and n represent integers independently chosen between 0 and 1.
