The pendulum comprises a base on which a structure for portal support of the pendulum and a fixture to set the specimen for testing is provided. The modular elements are linked together for adapting to different specimens tested. The device is controlled through a robot and consists of a drag arm powered by a motor reducer acting on the axis of rotation of the drag arm. The arm is arranged such that the end of a device releases mass formed by an electromagnet. An independent claim is also included for a method for testing impact.
