Methods and systems for placing a distress call in response to the operationof implanted device (100 ). The implanted device (100) may be any of aplurality of medical devices capable of monitoring and/or regulating an organ.When threshold conditions are reached, a distress signal transmitted by theimplanted device (100) activates an external communications system (108). Theexternal communications system (108) then places a distress call, which may beresponded to by the appropriate medical personnel.
