The present invention provides a pharmaceutical composition and the usethereof for regeneration of liver tissues to treat cirrhotic liver, thecompositionincluding 5-(2-pyrazinyl)-4-methyl-1,2-dithiole-3-thione (oltipraz) as anactiveingredient. The oltipraz composition promotes regeneration of liver tissues inacirrhotic liver, thereby useful in treating cirrhosis.
