A system is disclosed for the interception, collection, and containment of aleakage ofpetroleum products from an above ground pipeline or piping. A simply formedgroovedchannel together with a sorbent material with oleophilic and hydrophobicproperties arestrapped to the underside of the pipe. A preferred material for the duct is asimplepreformed sheet metal or high density polyethylene (HDPE). A second functionof thesorbent pad is to prevent windage and the intrusion of dust, water, or snowinto thechannel.
