The invention relates to a system and method for controlling a TCSC disposed on a high voltage line (40) of an electrical energy transport network. The system comprises: - a voltage measurement module (41), - a current measurement module (42), - a regulator (43) according to a nonlinear control law, which receives at the input the outputs of the two modules measuring voltage and current, and a reference voltage corresponding to the fundamental of the voltage that is to be obtained at the terminals of the TCSC, - a module (4 4) for extracting the control angle according to an algorithm extraction system, - a module (45) for controlling thyristors (T1, T2) of the TCSC, which receives a reference of zero current delivered by a phase locked loop giving the position of the current (46).
