TRANSMISSION SYSTEM BASED ON THE PROPAGATION OF ELASTIC WAVES THROUGH ELECTRIC CABLES

The invention relates to a transmission system which is based on the propagation of elastic waves through electric cables. The inventive system comprises the following four components: 1) converters for converting the electric signals from the transmitter into elastic waves, 2) converters for converting the elastic waves into electric signals for the receiver, 3) dielectric couplers for coupling the converters to the transmission means, and 4) a transmission means which essentially consists of the electric cables which are used to transport electric power or to transmit voice, video and data. The system also comprises additional elastic wave transmission channels. The invention is suitable for the transmission of signals, data, voice and video over electric power lines, communication links and electric connections in general.
