It is intended to find and provide a component having an α-glucosidase inhibitory action and an inhibitory action of blood glucose level elevation among components contained in yacon. As a result of screening for a strong antioxidant component in yacon aerial part extract, the inventors found that an antioxidant activity is converged in a 50% methanol-eluted fraction of DIAION HP-20 column chromatography of a hot water extract. Then, the inventors conducted purification because a high-content component which had not been detected before was observed, and TCAA was isolated. It was found that TCAA is the component having an α-glucosidase inhibitory action and an inhibitory action of blood glucose level elevation.
