The present invention relates to a direct-oxidation fuel cell for the convection-free transport of at least one fuel and a method for operating the direct-oxidation fuel cell. The principle in accordance with the invention is in this case based on the transport of the fluidic fuel from the fuel reservoir to a membrane electrode unit, wherein the transport takes place by means of a capillary structure utilizing capillary forces and evaporation suction.
