METHOD FOR DETECTING LINEAR BARCODES IN A VIDEO IMAGE FRAME, A LINEAR BARCODE SCANNER AND A PAYMENT PROCESSING UNIT

The invention relates to devices for reading and identifying barcodes, which are used in commercial equipment. The inventive method consists in processing an image, in determining the absolute value of a gradient components, in carrying out low-frequency filtration and decimation of images of absolute values of the gradient components, in element-by-element determining the absolute difference between two pairs of perpendicular directions of the components, in comparing brightness of pixels of the two obtained images and in localising a bar code. A scanner comprises an objective lens, a photosensitive array, computing and interface units, an objective lens actuator provided with a membrane-type spring, a permanent magnet and two solenoids. The inventive payment-processing unit comprises a table for placing goods and a scanner positioned thereabove. Said invention makes it possible to accelerate customer service rate, the reliability of a barcode scanning, to improve operational and service conditions, to increase resistance to jamming and image defects and to extend a scanning depth.
