Apparatus for facilitating the collection of bollards (3) from a roadway (5) comprises a framework (18) for coupling to the front of a truck (2). A guide member (25) located forwardly on the framework (18) extends in a direction rearwardly transversely of the direction of forward motion of the truck (2) for urging the bollards (3) from a first row (4) to one side of the truck (2) to form a second row (14) on the other side of the truck (2), so that the bollards can be manually picked up from the roadway and placed on a platform (11) of the truck (2). A system (60) is also provided for facilitating placing bollards (62) on a roadway (64) in a row (63). The system comprises a chute (76) for coupling to the tailgate (73) or a desired side wall (72) of a platform (69) of the truck (61) for accommodating bollards from the platform (69) entered therein by a person standing on the platform (69). Apparatus (77) is coupled to the rear of the truck (61 ), and comprises a framework (78) which comprises guide members (79), one of which is located rearwardly of the chute (76) for engaging the bollards (62) as they are sequentially dispensed onto the roadway from the chute (76) for urging the bollards (62) transversely of the direction of motion of the truck (61 ) to form the row (63) of bollards (62).
