A DEVICE FOR LIMITING THE MOVEMENT OF A PLAYER'S ARM DURING A SPORTING ACTION

A device (1) for limiting the movement of a player's arm (2) during a sporting action. The device (1) comprises a forearm brace (5), an upper arm brace (3) and a connecting tongue (7) extending between the forearm brace and the upper arm brace. The connecting tongue (7) is slidingly engaged with one of the braces (3, 5) and is fixedly attached to the other brace. Bending or straightening of the arm (2) slides the connecting tongue (7) relative to the braces (3, 5) and varies the extension length of the connecting tongue. The connecting tongue (7) is sufficiently flexible to slidingly engage with one of the braces (3, 5) and is sufficiently resistant to bending such that straightening the player's arm (2) causes the connecting tongue to lockingly engage with an abutting surface (12) of one of said braces (3, 5). Thus, bending of the player's arm (2) is substantially prevented.
