The invention relates to a wood heat-treating method, a plant for carrying out said method and to the thus heat-treated wood. The inventive heat-treating method consists in bringing each wood piece (B) of a treatable lot into contact with a temperature controlled conductive press (1, 2), whose temperature is accurately controllable in time and in intensity. The pieces are heated to or held at a desired temperature by any heat controll means which are suitable for treatment and a treatable wood quantity and which makes it possible to conductivelly heat the wood, to maintain the temperature thereof and to cool said wood.
