摘要
The protein VanB of formula (I) (in Fig.) is new. (I) is implicated in Gram positive bacteria, in resistance to glycopeptides, partic. vancomycin (II), this resistance being inducible by (II) but not by teicoplanin. Also new are (1) functional fragments and modified forms of (I), (2) nucleic acid (A) encoding (I), (3) nucleotides which hybridise with (A) under stringent conditions and complementary fragments, (4) recombinant DNA contg. (A) or fragments, plus expression control elements, (5) recombinant cloning and expression vectors contg. (A) or its fragments, (6) recombinant host cells contg. such DNA or vectors, and (7) monoclonal or polyclonal antibodies (Ab) which recognise (I) specifically.
