The present invention relates to a terminal having an XML file conversion function and a method of converting an XML file. The terminal having an XML file conversion function includes a main control unit for controlling a function of compiling an XML file into a binary format file having a header and body structure and of running the XML file. A memory unit stores and manages an XML file -binary format file conversion program while storing the XML file, in response to a storage control signal. A display implements the XML file on a display screen in response to a display function control signal. The present invention is advantageous in that, since the XML file of the terminal is processed as a binary file, display components can be represented structurally and minutely, so that the display of a user interface can be finely processed.
