A position acquisition section (101) acquires positional information on that waypoint on a map that is to be displayed. A travel history creation section (102) acquires travel information, such as a route actually traveled, the distance of the travel, the amount of fuel required, travel speed, a time period of the day in which the travel was performed, and congestion conditions, and creates a travel history for each route. A fuel consumption data creation section (103) creates fuel consumption data for each route based on the travel history for each route created by the travel history creation section (102). A route setting section (105) searches and checks whether a travel history corresponding to a route from a current position of a vehicle to a destination is stored in a storage section (104) and, while referring to corresponding fuel consumption data, sets a route on which the vehicle can travel to the destination with minimum fuel consumption. A display section (107) displays route information and fuel consumption data corresponding to the route along with the positional information (such as a map) acquired by the position acquisition section (101).
