The invention relates to an apparatus for grinding, crushing or in any similar manner processing for grinding, crushing, grating, slicing, mincing or in any- similar manner processing whole, chopped, lump, sliced or chipped foodstuff such as coffee beans, almonds, nuts, cheese, chocolate, ice, meat, fruit, vegetables and any other foodstuff. The apparatus comprises a processing mechanism and a driving mechanism (7, 8, 10, 11, 12) for driving the at least one processing mechanism, and a cassette (4), wherein the processing mechanism is enclosed and being a separable part of the apparatus during normal use. The invention also relates a cassette (4) comprising an inlet (14) for whole, chopped, lump, sliced or chipped foodstuff such as coffee beans, almonds, nuts, cheese, chocolate, ice, meat, fruit, vegetables and any other foodstuff, and an outlet for groundseeds, and where the cassette (4) is provided with at least one processing mechanism enclosed in the cassette and at least part of the processing mechanism being non-separable from the cassette during normal use.
