Disclosed is a sealing material for a high-pressure hydrogen container, which mainly comprises a silicone rubber composed of a dimethylsiloxane segment, a methylvinylsiloxane segment and a diphenylsiloxane segment. Also disclosed is a high-pressure hydrogen container using the sealing material. It becomes possible to provide a sealing material having the requirements (1) and (2) which are highly required for achieving the sealing of a high-pressure hydrogen container system for a fuel cell vehicle (a CHG tank) with an elastomeric material: (1) good durability in the environment where the pressure of high-pressure hydrogen is varied; and (2) good sag resistance in the lower temperature to higher temperature environment
