Process for separation of metal/synthetic plastic bonds, especially billets (sic) for material evaluation of obsolete electrical equipment by the steps:mechanical comminution of the equipment, separation of product into a metal fraction, a metal/synthetic plastic fraction and a nonmetallic fraction, feeding of the metal fraction to an optoelectronic sensor module (7) with an NIR sensor, detection of the metal/synthetic plastic fraction in the metal fraction, and separation of these two fractions. An independent claim is included for a separation device as described above.
