The invention relates to an electrostatic filter device of the type including at least one basic filtration module defining, in the inside thereof, a housing (1) for the exhaust gases and having, upstream from the flow, a particle electrostatic charging area (6), followed, downstream from the flow, by a charged particle trapping area (7), wherein the charging area (6) includes a plurality of filament electrodes (9) supplied with a high-voltage electric current and arranged transversally in the gaseous flow, characterised in that the basic filtration module includes a plurality of collecting plates (2) arranged in parallel in the gaseous flow and extending along the charging and trapping areas (6, 7), said collecting plates (2) being spaced from the filament electrodes (9) in the charging area and interleaved in the trapping area (7) with conducting plates (11) at the same potential as the filament electrodes (9), said collecting plates (2) being connected to the ground.
