Production of a high strength track part made from steel comprises chilling a steel containing 0.3-0.4 % carbon, 0.7-0.9 % silicon, 0.6-0.8 manganese, 2.2-3.0 % chromium and a balance of iron after cooling and forming a bainite base structure having a tensile strength of 1300-1550 N/mm2. An independent claim is also included for a switching part made from steel in the above process.
