Spinning machine comprises a spindle arrangement (1) with a spindle (30) fixed above an electric motor with fixing devices (3) directly or indirectly to a machine frame (15) to permit a precise movement of the spindle about a conical surface. A rotary point (9) forming a cone tip lies at the height of the spindle fixing. An independent claim is also included for a spindle unit used in the above spinning machine. Preferred Features: An upper bearing (6) is arranged above the electric motor or rotor (4) and a lower bearing (7) is arranged below the electric motor or rotor. The fixing devices are rubber or spring connecting elements.
