摘要

An apparatus for measuring an arc striking position using a velocity difference between metal and gas and a measuring method thereof are provided to determine an arc generation on an axial cable transmitting high voltage and an arc striking position accurately by installing sensors transmitting signal through metal and gas. An apparatus(100) measuring an arc striking position on an axial cable(130) using a velocity difference between metal and gas includes a first sensor unit(110), a second sensor unit(120), and a control unit(140). The first sensor unit(110) measures a discharge signal transmitted along an external metal(132) from a discharge position where the arc is generated. The second sensor unit(120) measures the discharge signal transmitted through gas from the discharge position. The control unit(140) calculates an arc striking position using an arrival time difference between signals from the first sensor unit(110) and the second sensor unit(120), an arc signal transmitted through the external metal(132) and an arc signal transmitted through gas from a generated position respectively.
