PURPOSE: A position-based living information customized service device using a space search technique in base station units in a radio communication system and a method therefor are provided so that efficiency of the IMT-2000 can be maximized by providing additional services using positioning information and geographic information based on base stations or base station controllers. CONSTITUTION: A central control module(38) controls a position-based living information customized service. When a user demands the position-based living information customized service, a member search module(31) confirms membership of the user under the control of the central control module(38). A service management module(33) manages service log files of the users. A customized information management module(35) selects and extracts building classification items. An IMT-2000 interface module(37) transmits an extracted building classification item to an IMT-2000 terminal(11), receives a wanted building classification item from the user through an IMT-2000 network, and transmits the corresponding living information to the IMT-2000 terminal(11). A positioning information search module(32) extracts a current position of the IMT-2000 terminal(11). A geographic information system(GIS) data processing module(34) searches buildings adjacent to the IMT-2000 terminal(11). A living information search module(36) searches at least one living information of the corresponding buildings, and transmits it to the IMT-2000 interface module(37).
