IPTV SERVICE SYSTEM AND NETWORK, AND METHOD OF TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING ITS CONTENTS AND DATA THEREOF

An IPTV service system, a network for the same, and a method for transmitting and receiving contents and data are provided to offer an interactive IPTV service while providing broadcast signals to a television, connected to an IP STB(Set-Top Box) through a high-speed IP network, through a selected broadcast channel from an IPTV head-end system on the basis of ACAP(Advanced Common Application Platform) standards. An IPTV service system comprises a baseband system(100), a compressing/multiplexing system(110), a network switch system(190), and an RS(Return Server) system(172). The baseband system(100) executes frame synchronization for broadcast signals received from a PP(Program Provider) or a terrestrial broadcasting station, distributes broadcast signals according to channels, and outputs broadcast audio and video signals. The compressing/multiplexing system(110) compresses and streams the broadcast audio and video signals according to channels, multiplexes the streamed broadcast audio and video signals with data and contents signals for data broadcasting, and carries out IP packetization for the multiplexed streams. The network switch system(190) transmits the IP-packetized signals to subscriber terminals through an IP network in a multicasting scheme. The RS system(172), connected with subscriber terminals through a return channel, receives bidirectional data from subscriber terminals in a unicasting scheme for the sake of an interactive service.
