COUMARIN-CONTAINING DYES FOR DYE-SENSITIZED SOLAR CELLS

A dye for a solar cell, and a dye sensitive solar cell using the dye are provided to improve the light absorption of a dye, thereby enhancing the efficiency of photoelectric transformation of a solar cell. A dye for a solar cell is represented by the formula 1, wherein X and Y are independently a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic hydrocarbon group, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic hetero ring, or their combination, but at least one is a coumarinyl group or a coumarinylvinylaryl group; Z is a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic hydrocarbon group, a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic hetero ring, or a substituted or unsubstituted polyvinyl group; and A is an acidic functional group.
