An apparatus and a method for a cold start of a hybrid vehicle are provided to start an engine of the vehicle by operating an additional start motor. A method for a cold start of a hybrid vehicle includes the steps of: measuring a temperature outside the vehicle(ST10); cranking an engine by using an integrated motor(ST20); operating a start motor if the measured temperature outside the vehicle is lower than a predetermined temperature and RPM(Revolutions Per Minute) of the engine is zero(ST30); operating an engine clutch and a damper clutch if the RPM of the start motor is higher than a predetermined value(ST40); and transmitting rotary power of the start motor to the engine(ST50).
