MULTI THREAD H.264 DECODER AND ENCODED VIDEO DATA DECODING METHOD THEREOF

A multi-thread H.264 decoder and a compression video data decoding method thereof are provided to maximize the entire performance of the decoder by using resources efficiently even when the small number of operation units is used and disperse an operation amount required to synchronization between the operation units to all operation units. A header decoder(202) decodes the NAL(Network Adaptation Layer) header and slice header data of received video data. A memory unit(206) stores sync information about each of macro blocks included in the decoded compression video data and compression video data. A macro block allocation unit(212) allocates the number of the macro blocks to perform initial operation to plural operation units(214) according to the number of the operation units. The operation units, if a macro block to be initially operated is allocated, read macro block data to perform decoding operation respectively, performs first decoding operation for the macro block referring to the sync information, performs second decoding operation according to preset conditions, selects a macro block to perform first and second operations newly, and performs the third decoding operation of the macro blocks when the first and second decoding operations of all macro blocks are completed. A decoding video output unit outputs the operation result as decoded video data for the compression video data when the third decoding operation of the all macro blocks is completed.
