METHOD FOR GENERATING CDMA CODE SET FOR MULTI-HOP RAGING IN MMR SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR RANGING USING THE GENERATED CDMA CODE SET

A method for generating a CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) code set for multi-hop ranging in an MMR(Mobile Multi-hop Relay) system and a method for ranging using the generated CDMA code set are provided to support the multi-hop ranging without revising an MS ranging procedure defined by an existing standard. A method for ranging in an MMR system includes the steps of: forming a CDMA code set for separately ranging a first CDMA code set for one-hop ranging and a second CDMA code set for multi-hop ranging by a base station(S610); assigning at least one CDMA code of the second CDMA code set to relay stations respectively(S620); comparing the number of ranging codes received from a mobile terminal with the number of the assigned CDMA code sets by the relay station(S630); assigning resources by the base station and receiving a compensation value from the relay station based on the number of the received ranging codes and the compensation value for each of the codes when the number of the received ranging codes is small(640); and assigning resources required for a bandwidth request header to the relay station and receiving the compensation value from the relay station when the number of the received ranging codes is large(S650).
