A method for preparing a complex oxide powder is provided to produce a barium titanate having a small particle diameter distribution and good crystallinity. A method for preparing a complex oxide powder includes a step of firing a raw material powder to prepare the complex oxide powder, wherein gas is supplied to move and fire the raw material powder while carbon dioxide gas is generated by the firing of the raw material powder. The raw material powder is obtained by mixing a metal oxide of titanium and/or zirconium with at least one metal carbonate selected from the group comprising barium, strontium, calcium, magnesium, and lead.
