DATABASE BASED ONTOLOGY CONSTRUCTION METHOD AND ITS SYSTEM

A method and a system for building a database-based ontology are provided to build the ontology efficiently with minimized overlapping by storing the ontology to be built and document related to a category of the ontology in a database, and making a plurality of ontology builders to share the database on the network. An ontology building group(100) forms a group by selecting a plurality of ontology builders(110-1 to 110-n) for building an ontology. A language resource manager(200) stores documents(210) related to a category of the ontology and a dictionary(220) for clearly defining concept in a language resource database(230), and enables the ontology builders to manage language resources directly. An ontology building unit(300) enables the ontology builders to build the ontology by referring to the language resource database and enables the group to share an ontology database(320) by storing the built ontology in the ontology database. A language resource manager(240) prevents the ontology builders from referring to the previously referred document again by enabling the ontology builders to mark up the document referred when the ontology is built.
