OPERATING METHOD OF DISPLAY UNIT FOR OUTPUTTING TEXT DATA USING ELECTRO PROGRAM GUIDE AND DISPLAY UNIT ENABLING OF THE METHOD

An operating method of a display device for outputting text information by using EPG data and a display device using the same are provided to enable a user to listen to broadcasting program information outputted from a voice output unit as watching an advertisement screen outputted from the display device, thereby enabling the user to know information about a desired channel at an advertisement time. An operating method of a display device comprises the following steps. A user selects and inputs program information voice output in a user interface(S301). The user selects and inputs predetermined channel information(S302). If the selection inputs are received, EPG(Electro Program Guide) data is analyzed to read an advertisement time of a channel which is currently broadcasted in the display device(S303). After reading broadcasting program information organized after the advertisement time in the selected and inputted channel, the read broadcasting program information is vocalized(S304). If the advertisement time has come, the vocalized broadcasting program information of the selected channel is outputted without outputting a voice signal related to an advertisement(S305).
