PROCESSING METHOD AND EQUIPMENT FOR MAKING ALUMINUM ALLOY FROM ALUMINUM SCRAP

A method and an apparatus for melting aluminum scrap are provided to improve recovery ratio of low grade scraps with various sizes and small chips, improve refining efficiency by flowing refined melt over to a holding furnace, and increase recyclability of scrap and reduce alloy production costs by manufacturing an aluminum alloy instead of an aluminum ingot using the scrap. An apparatus(20) for melting aluminum scrap comprises: a twin chamber type principal melting furnace(21) which is divided into an ingot melting furnace(21A) and a scrap melting furnace(21B) by a partition; a chip melting furnace(22) of which both sides are connected to the ingot melting furnace and the scrap melting furnace respectively through flow paths; and an induction heating furnace(23) connected to the scrap melting furnace. The induction heating furnace is connected to the scrap melting furnace by an inclined flow path in which a mesh filter is installed. The chip melting furnace of the apparatus has a gas curtain formed in a raw material injection port thereof. The chip melting furnace has an electromagnetic induction stirrer formed on an outer lower portion thereof to stir melt in the chip melting furnace.
