An anti-theft credit card system using a card equipped with MSs(Magnetic Stripe) storing digitized fingerprint information of an authorized card owner and a section for receiving a fingerprint from a user is provided to enable an ATM(Automated Teller Machine) to read the fingerprint printed on the fingerprint section without modifying the current ATM largely by storing the fingerprint information to the MS. A credit card includes a first MS(3) storing personal, robbery tag, and use limit information at a rear side, a second MS(4) storing fingerprint information of an authorized card owner at a position lower than the first MS, and a fingerprint section(2) receiving a fingerprint from a user at a short front side. A first MS reader reads the information from the first MS. A first microprocessor authenticates the credit card by comparing the information received from the first MS reader with the information received from a host computer. A second MS reader reads the fingerprint information from the second MS. An optical fingerprint reader recognizes the fingerprint printed on the fingerprint section. A second microprocessor determines to process a requested transaction by comparing the fingerprint information received from the second MS reader with the fingerprint information received from the optical fingerprint reader.
