An SAO(sequential approximation optimization) design device, a method thereof, and a recording medium storing a program for the same are provided to increase efficiency for optimizing design without rapidly increasing the number of test points needed for generating a model based on RSM(Response Surface Modeling) even if the number of design variables is increased in SAO design applying the RSM to design optimization. A test planer(100) selects test points by selecting the test point at first based on OLHD(Optimal Latin Hypercube Design) and using the generated test points in next repetition. An approximation model generator(110) generates the selected test points by using at least one of an LSM(Least Square Method) or a semi-Newtonian equation. An approximation model manager(120) generates a trust region on the basis of a trust region algorithm by using the generated test points. A solution for optimizing design is determined by performing previous stages repeatedly.
