A method for manufacturing a carbon-coated silicon/graphite composite anode material is provided to produce the anode material having improved electroconductivity and less volume change than the conventional silicon active material during charging and discharging. A method for manufacturing a carbon-coated silicon/graphite composite anode material for a lithium secondary battery includes the steps of: placing silicon particles on a graphite-based active material; and heat-treating a mixture of the silicon particles and the graphite-based active material under a mixed gas atmosphere comprising inert gas and hydrocarbon gas to carbonize the hydrocarbon gas on the surfaces of the silicon particles evenly. The silicon particles and the graphite-based active material are mixed in a weight ratio of 50:50 to 10:90. Further, the heat-treating temperature is 400-900 °C and the heat-treating time is 1-24 hrs.
